Marcelo Burlon Raves Through FW19

Marcelo Burlon‘s fall collection is a grungy compilation of neon colors, leopard prints, and unexpected combinations seemingly plucked from rave culture. The designer himself confesses that he was inspired but an abandoned theme park idea: both ultimately Wes Anderson-cool, yet unnerving and spooky.

The Marcelo Burlon x Timberland Boot is Spooky

Marcelo Burlon x Timberland have unleashed a new grunge-inspired boot. The new footwear is a mashup of tarot symbols, vintage tattoos aesthetic with a horror movie twist perfect for the spooky season.

The collaboration maintains the classic Timberland silhouette, featuring a bulky sole with the brand’s tree logo on the side and a tag attached to the laces. Giving the model a darker tone, the shoe is coated in a gradient fade of red to black, kind of like a bloodstain from a slasher film. Additionally, the 100% leather shoe is branded with the Marcelo Burlon logo at the backside of the boot’s collar. Happy Halloween!

The Marcelo Burlon x Timberland boot is available online and at select stores now.

First Looks at Marcelo Burlon County of Milan Spring 2019

MARCELO BURLON_SS19-27

Marcelo Burlon‘s new collection is very much extraterrestrial-inspired with futuristic motifs, Matrix sunnies, and NASA backpacks. The brand collaborated with “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Steven Spielberg’s movie, Linda Farrow, and Eastpak backpacks for the show. With neon color splashes, engineered text strips, and technical ready-to-wear, Marcelo Burlon brought a fresh vision to his brand.

Metal-inspired imagery continue to flow into the fashion domain, seen everywhere from Vetements to the Justin Bieber tour merch. Marcelo Burlon County of Milan relies on it for its FW18 which is ripe with nostalgia and Street Fighter flair. Full of novelty references — patches and graphics galore, hello logomania! — the collection was a playful presentation that provided a different perspective to the formalwear that dominated the rest of the season. Bright colors and plenty of face tattoos gave the collection a fantastically vivid tone, like a comic-book come to life.

L.G.R’s First Boutique Ever Lands in Milan

lgr-shop---1Images: LGR.

It’s a classic tale of success: Boy finds antique sunglasses in his grandfather’s former factory warehouse and transforms them into one of the most in-demand accessories of the moment. To continue expanding the empire, Italian eyewear designer L.G.R opened its first store in Milan’s popular Brera district.

The brand was born in 2008 when founder Luca Gnecchi Ruscone discovering an old pair of hand-crafted frames that would serve as the chief inspiration for the future eyewear brand. Seemingly overnight, at least in fashion industry standards, the label’s shades were seen on the faces of fashion elite including Carine Roitfeld, Mario Testino, Marcelo Burlon, and Gigi Hadid. It makes sense to open a store so fans can try on the frames in person before committing to one of the signature shapes.

“Milan’s international presence and undisputed reputation in the world of luxury and lifestyle makes the city a natural choice for our first store in Italy” Ruscone said in a statement. “The space on Corso Garibaldi will celebrate our DNA, allowing customers to immerse themselves in the universe of L.G.R. This opening is just the first step in a retail strategy that we hope will soon bring us to major cities around the world.”

Spanning two floors, the intimate boutique is rich with heritage and history. Evidence of the brand’s commitment for blending African and Italian influences, core material furnishes include wood and coir with coconut fiber accents, while the use of light green and pale blue color accents evoke the environmental cues of Eritrea and direct influences of Ottica Bini, Ruscone’s grandfather, warehouse in Asmara.

To celebrate LGR’s physical retail debut, numerous Italian influencers were invited to attend the opening, including model Laurie Harding and singer Giovanni Caccamo, pouring out into the street outside the shop with champagne in their hands. Ruscone mingled with friends and fans alike, entertaining guests with his stories and dynamic personality — the man oozes charisma yet carries a truly sincere quality. The whole event was very Italian and fashionable and I felt glamorous just to be in their company.

The store launch coincides with the launch of the label’s refreshingly minimalist FW 17/18 collection. Take a look at some highlights from opening night below.

L.G.R is open now at 36 Corso Garibaldi in Milan. The new collection can be purchased at select retailers and online now.

MFW: Backstage Marcelo Burlon Autumn/Winter 2017

Milan Fashion Week

Marcelo Burlon defiantly declares this is the end as we know it with his Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. Post-apocalyptic and military-inspired, the line circumvents traditional proportions to craft a look of extremity, distorted and reworked to suit a seemingly hopeful, if not dark, future.

Moët Nectar Impérial Rosé x Marcelo Burlon’s Ferocious Collaboration

Jerobaum-with-backgroundImage: Moët & Chandon.

Two of nightlife’s most enticing forces unite for the most refreshing collaboration this summer in the limited edition Moët Nectar Impérial Rosé x Marcelo Burlon three-bottle collaboration. Launching in August, the team-up pairs Burlon’s animalistic prowess as both a fashion designer, creative director, DJ, and more with the universally recognizable indulgence of Moët & Chandon‘s Nectar Impérial Rosé, the number one selling rosé champagne in the United States. Each of the three new pieces—including the Platinum Tiger Jeroboam, Golden Tiger Magnum, and Copper Tiger bottles—depict Burlon’s infamous tiger in kaleidoscope-esque designs, the first time the champagne house as allowed an outside name to affect its labels in such a way. “We chose the white tiger because it is a power animal and it gives people confidence. It was super nice to work with this idea and with the shape of the bottle,” says the creative, who himself has been throwing parties in Milan, Ibizia, and all across the rest of Europe for the past 20 years. “Moët and I were kind of looking for each other. We didn’t think about it and then suddenly they came up with the idea to do a collaboration and I was like, ‘I was waiting for you guys.’ Rosé is the only thing I drink. No alcohol, no drugs—only rosé, so the collaboration is perfect!”

The Limited Edition by Marcelo Burlon: the Tiger Bottle Collection will be available in August.
