Ami’s Spring/Summer 2020 Campaign is Pure Theatre

In its new Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, shot by photographer-turned-model Michael Bailey-Gates, Ami went full theater by arranging its own performance troupe for a series of compelling images. The photos reference various French cinematic styles, including film noir and even mime, inspired by the distinct styles of filmmakers like Richard Avedon, Tim Burton, and Federico Fellini. Even with models shot ensemble-style on stage, hanging on ladders, and posing alongside giant moon and heart cut-outs, the tailored and dynamic collection is the star of the show with flashy trench coats balanced by fitted looks providing the perfect wardrobe essentials for spring, or your next audition. Break a leg.

The Ami Spring/Summer 2020 collection will be available in February. Take a look at some more campaign shots below.

AMI’s S/S 19 Campaign Takes You Countryside

Ami‘s latest campaign (shot by Mark Peckmezian) takes the label’s effortless Parisian cool and transports it to the sunny countryside. In a lively series of images, models sport the S/S 19 collection while handling produce, shovels, and participating in various farm-appropriate activities. The campaign also involves a lot of chickens, perhaps indicating a larger trend of animal-led designer campaigns (remember that Gucci campaign celebrating the Year of the Pig?) taking over. Check out some of the images below.

AMI Turns Parisian Bourgeoise for F/W ’19

Alexandre Mattiussi’s latest collection is an elevated compilation of iconic Parisian pieces belonging in the 16eme arrondissement brought forth in a contemporarily chic manner. The collection is full of solid pieces, including well-cut topcoats and suits that evoke an old-school French uniform. However, here Mattiussi plays around with palette cleansing hues of off-white and beige tones — the looks are finished off with sturdy gaucho hats in matching shades. The designer himself call this collection “an homage to the bourgeoisie” and it is not difficult to envision these pieces at teatime at Le Meurice or on a stroll through Parc Monceau. Indeed, French style is back with AMI.

From Our View – Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018

An exclusive front row invitation.

With so many runways on the roster, June’s fashion schedule can be just a tad bit daunting. That is why we put together this invite-only rundown of the very best from Paris Fashion Week. Let EH be your eyes so you can focus on those exclusive after-hours parties instead.

Hermès

Starring a minimal yet chic line of turtlenecks, track pants, zip up hoodies, and baseball jackets, Hermès unveils a range of elegant sports-inspired pieces for its Spring/Summer 2018 collection, incorporating a sophisticated mix of burgundy and brown.

Dior Homme

Dior Homme worked its magic on the classic black suit and white shirt for its Spring/Summer 2018 collection, marching a series of jackets, gilets, and minimal tailcoats down its carpet-grass runway.

Sankuanz

Drawing inspiration from American painter Cy Twombly, Sankuanz experimented with a variety of colors, prints, and fabrics in its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Featuring an assortment of shirts, hoodies, and trench coats, the Chinese label also stole glances on the runway with its attention-grabbing accessories.

Cerruti 1881

With a soothing color palette, including sangria, cream, and ocean blue, Cerruti 1881’s collection was a feast for the eyes as it showcased a range of jackets, shirts, and knitwear with unique stripes and palm leaf prints.

AMI

Offering a modern, refreshing take on ‘50s classics, including bowling button-down shirts, jumpsuits, and loose trousers, French label AMI boldly played with color in its latest line, placing exquisite pieces against the violet/pink sand that filled its venue at Paris Fashion Week.

Eastpak x AMI Release Collaborative Bag Collection

Eastpak x AMIImage: Eastpak x AMI.

The contrast between United States-made Eastpak and Paris fashion house AMI is stark—the former a clear cut supporter of function, the later a proponent of interpretation. Putting these two ideals to the test, the pair release a three-strong collection of bags that remold classic styles with Alexandre Mattiussi’s playful proportionality.

The collection’s showstopper, the AMI padded, utilizes seatbelt webbing, coated zippers, and metal hardware for a sleek rendition highlighted by bright pinpoints of child-like color. Beside it, the topload functions as a military/urban hybrid, its high-capacity build completed by an adjustable top closure, available in both nylon and full leather. The oversized banana waistbag, an update to a ’90s favorite design, features a smaller construction, but what it lacks in stature it makes up for in organization, its many zippered pockets ready to keep even the most hopeless of messes organized. All decked out in bright reds, yellows, and purples, the release moves beyond function to breathe a youthful new life into instantly recognizable silhouettes.

The Eastpak x AMI collection will be available online starting June 30th, 2017.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Lanvin

French fashion house Lanvin released a first look at its latest line of sneakers and loafers—the apple of designer Lucas Ossendrijver’s urban-meets-vintage eye. With mismatched laces and the brand’s penchant for patterns—stretching as far as last year’s graphic-heavy Mr. Porter collab—the kicks are a peppier version of Lanvin’s Autumn/Winter 2016 aesthetic, both sharing in a muted palette with a rugged finish.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Though the dust from Salvatore Ferragamo‘s upper level shakeup may have settled, the brand has anything but. Highlighting its popular Uomo fragrance in an event at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York, a Hollywood A-List crowd turned out in droves to support the scent’s latest ambassador, actor Ben Barnes, including actress Susan Sarandon, model Mitchell Slaggert, and more.

AMI

Alexandre Mattiussi’s AMI walked Paris’ Autumn/Winter 2017 Fashion Week with a line of, coincidentally, spring-inspired wardrobing. Getting a first glimpse at the pieces fully realized, the French label shared a behind-the-scenes snapshot of the upcoming campaign, backing the looks with the same purple palette featured on the clothes themselves. Simple and fun, it was only a matter of time before the Andam Fashion Award-winner distanced himself from the neutral-toned collections of seasons past.

Kim Jones

It’s no secret that everyone needs a break now and then, and Louis Vuitton Menswear Artistic Director Kim Jones is far from the exception. Skipping out of town just as the excitement around the brand’s recent Jeff Koons collab reached maximum levels, the designer took to the waters of the Amangalla Hotel in Sri Lanka to share a poolside pic of his Louis Vuitton slides. Glowing in the glossy Indian Ocean sun, the currently un-released pair features a similar silhouette to the brand’s ever-popular Waterfront iteration.

Omega

Omega‘s celebration of its Speedmaster design’s 60th anniversary saw a star-studded guest list, including actor George Clooney and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, overtook the Tate Modern in London for a night of gravity-defying fun. Serving as a platform to announce the watchmaker’s latest iteration, Moonphase, the out-of-this-world event featured “Active Cell Regeneration Fuel” cocktails, a high-flying acrobatic performance, and a barrage of roaming astronauts for a truly “Lost in Space” extravaganza.
