agnès b. x Ryan McGinness: An Artistic Blend

Inspired by the artist’s 2014 work “Signs,” in which he installed 50 fabricated street signs along downtown New York, Ryan McGinness unites with fashion designer agnès b. for an art-meets-fashion capsule collection.

At the core of the project, the duo present a unique, three-style T-shirt design that sees short sleeves sewn over longer layers in representation of the rebellious way McGinness once dressed as a teenager in Virginia Beach. In an imperfect approach, the styles acknowledge ‘90s skate culture with texture added to reveal each’s stitching and finished with graphic prints in red, black, and white. The collaboration joins an in-store installation of McGinness’ work entitled “Signals: Units of Meaning: Drawings of Elements & Compounds,” now on view at agnès b.’s SoHo outpost, along with other featured products that include mugs, vinyl tote bags, patches, and a limited edition skateboard.

agnès b. x Ryan McGinness is available at 50 Howard Street, New York. NY.

Agnès b + Julien Langendorff: Your Halloween Look Right Off the Runway

Agnes B Julien Lagendorff

Well, there’s not much we can say other than this Fall 2012 Agnès b look is absolutely, uh, ghoulish. In all the right ways. Actually, no, we can say more! It’s made in collaboration with one Julien Langendorff, a plastics technician/musician/artist, who mainly works with drawings, collages and mysterious installations. You might know him as the co-director of a spooky art-house video/movie called Pillars of Fire with Jason Glasser and co-composer of the soundtrack with the singer Matteah Baim, or for the works he exhibited at Galerie du Jour agnès b. back in April 2009. So, yeah, if you wanna do Halloween in style, here’s one such way to accomplish that. The kill? It’s only $95.

BARNEYS BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO BASCO

BARNEYS BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO BASCO

For Fall 2012, Barneys has brought back BASCO (Barneys Sportswear Company), the store’s in-house brand that ruled the racks in the 80’s and part of the 90’s. It’s comprised of an assortment of luxurious sportswear: wool & cashmere outerwear, merino sweaters, and cotton shirts & trousers, accompanied by a rich selection of bridle leather bags & belts (exclusively made in the U.S.A. by Tennessee based artisan, Emil Erwin), as well as merino knit hats & scarves, produced in some of Italy’s oldest & finest factories. Much to your delight, BASCO retails for up to 25% less than its competitors’ offerings housed on the same floor—like Margaret Howell, Todd Snyder, Black Fleece, Aspesi, Pringle of Scotland, and Agnes b. The original BASCO (which actually stood for Barneys American Sportswear Company) made quite a business out of selling at other high end boutiques. So far there’s no plans in the works to make that happen again but if the collections continue to look as sharp as the first reboot, we’ve a feeling that may change.  BASCO lives on the 4th floor of Barneys Madison Avenue Men’s Store, and alongside sportswear assortments in Beverly Hills, Seattle, Chicago, Copley, Las Vegas, and San Francisco flagship stores.  Also, Barneys.com
