Mirazur in Menton is the World’s Best Restaurant

Last night at the annual World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 awards, Mauro Colagreco’s Mirazur in Menton, France became the world’s best restaurant, succeeding last year’s Osteria Francescana in Italy. Copenhagen’s Noma came in second and Atxondo’s (Spain) Asador Etxebarri took home third place.

The evening also saw the Chef’s Choice Award to Alain Passard of Arpège in Paris for his revolutionary vegetarian kitchen. Further, New York’s (Cosme and Atla) chef Daniela Soto-Innes won the World’s Best Female Chef award and Jessica Préalpato (Alain Ducasse at Plaza Athénée) won World’s Best Pastry Chef. And while all these restaurants tend to use the best products and most responsible culinary techniques, it was Schloss Schauenstein, in Fürstenau, Switzerland, that won the Sustainable Restaurant Award 2019.
