Gant Rugger Spring 2013 Look Book: Team Americano

For Spring 2013, Gant Rugger designer Christian Bastin went Americano. He was inspired by the fashionable Americans he saw during the men’s runway shows at Pitti in Italy, who put their bold stamp on classic italian styles. “Everyone tries to be chill about it, but Pitti is really menswear’s moment, it’s ultimate clubhouse,” said GANT Ruggerdesigner Christopher Bastin. “Guys put their best well-heeled foot forward. There are muses all along the promenade. This season I wanted to capture that feeling, but through an American lens. There are American bloggers and photographers that I know that nail that look in Pitti. I call them Team Americano.” What that means are sharp single and double breasted blazers in both linen or glencheck, matched with chinos and classic oxford shirts both with button down and spread collars. Sunfaded pastels (a full blown trend for spring) are combined with decidedly more all-American primaries of red, white and blue. Accessories include shantung ties, selvedge madras pocket squares and linen summer scarves, while a black watch tartan car coat is a standout piece in its own remark.
