Woolrich x Griffin Studio Release Sustainable Collection

Partnering with Griffin Studio, a UK-based carbon-neutral design agency, Woolrich has updated its signature outerwear with enhanced performance materials. The duo worked with Italian sportswear fabric maker Majocchi on a new Zero Water process, and with some additional collaboration from Seaqual, an organization that combats marine pollution, they successfully created a polyester material using recycled plastic.

The seven-piece capsule honors Woolrich’s signature outerwear but updates it with new sustainably produced materials. Classic brand motifs include the red and black buffalo print and the bright colorways ensure that the winter attire is anything but dreary.

The Woolrich x Griffin Studio collection is available at select stores and online now. Learn more about the innovative production process in the video above.

Nike & Virgil Abloh Open Creative Outlet in Chicago

Earlier this week, Nike and Virgil Abloh opened the NikeLab Chicago Re-Creation Center, with the goal of inspiring a new generation of creative Chicagoans. The new space will host workshops led by hand-picked partners working in multiple design fields, from fabric design to architecture. Along with the workshops, an eight-week mentorship program orchestrated by Abloh and other mentors will be offered to 10 local creatives to explore and improve their craft.

Furthermore, Nike is highlighting its Reuse-a-Shoe initiative which turns old shoes into Nike Grind, an innovative material that can be used to construct footwear and incorporated into other athletic structures — this material will be used to construct an Abloh designed basketball court in Chicago in the near future.

The NikeLab Chicago Re-Creation Center is open from May 31 to July 28 at 673 N. Michigan Avenue.

Patagonia Explores Innovative Production Methods with Truth to Materials

Video: Patagonia.

California-based outdoor clothiers Patagonia re-imagine raw material sourcing with the brand’s new Truth to Materials capsule collection, exploring new manufacturing methods through seven different garments. The concept behind the collection involves minimal processing, discovering the origin of a material, and keeping as close to that as possible during manufacturing, with each piece composed of reclaimed or alternatively sourced fabrics.
