Nicki Minaj Bites Back with “Yikes”

After getting into it with her ex, rapper Meek Mill, on Twitter this week, Nicki Minaj sounds off with her first single of the year after abruptly and unceremoniously announcing her retirement from music in October. A departure from the bubblegum pop sound she’s mastered over the years, most recently on her Caribbean-ready summer hit “Megatron” back in June, the simple and scathing “Yikes” is a nearly three-minute-long attack on anyone who tries her and a brash return to her hip-hop roots. She even reportedly delayed the track a few hours so she could re-write a verse to address the Meek Mill situation — a line like “Yikes, you a clown, you do it for likes” get the point across pretty clearly. Clearly, the queen is ready to reclaim her throne.

Rae Sremmurd Releases Sneaker with Giuseppe Zanotti

This week in sneakers: Italian footwear designer Giuseppe Zanotti has cast hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd in a campaign for its newest limited-edition sneaker. The Blabber sneaker range boasts a minimal but luxurious design — monochromatic styles are available in textured snakeskin leather, black canvas, or a subtle tartan print, with an exposed zipper detail embellishing the shoe’s spine. The utilitarian design is a contrast to the dynamic energy of the chart-topping group, but that’s the point — the simplicity only amplifies the wearer’s own charisma.

The Blabber FW19 collection is available in select stores and online now. Check out the video campaign below.

Ms. Lauryn Hill Fronts Woolrich Campaign for FW18

Ahead of the 20 year anniversary of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s career defining debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, outerwear label Woolrich has tapped the artist for its Fall/Winter 18 campaign. Dubbed ‘Woolrich: American Soul since 1830,’ the intimate image series was shot by Jack Davison in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, where Hill first shot her video for ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’. (See above.) Styled by Mel Ottenberg, the campaign features pieces from the brand’s fall collection customized for the series, including collages of Hill printed on several coats. Take a look below and be sure to stream The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill now.

Which Rapper is Sorry for Calling Oprah an Ugly *****?

waka_flocka_10

Waka Flocka Flame. You’re probably scratching your head thinking Waka who? Waka who cares!

Turns out the he’s nothing but a two-bit rapper calling media proprietor/talk show host/actress/philanthropist/person-you-do-not-want-to-piss-off-ever Oprah Winfrey an ugly bitch. Why? In a video that popped up this weekend, one of Waka’s crew members is heard describing Oprah’s va-jay-jay as a “million dollar p*ssy” (we’re quoting here, sorry!). Mr. Flame, in an act of sheepish defiance responds glibly “I won’t f**k that ugly b*tch!” Fighting words.

But now, he’s sorry! “I feel obligated to take responsibility for my actions and publicly apologize to Oprah. My remarks about [her] were both extremely unnecessary and disrespectful. This regretful situation made me look at women and how I address them in a more responsible way,” he says.

File this under foulmouthed nobodies running their dang mouths.

No response from the Winfrey camp out of lack of this story being anywhere near the cushioned radar that hovers within a 100-mile radius of Oprah.
