Louis Vuitton Releases Black Leather Rugby Ball

Ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Louis Vuitton is paying tribute to the sport the only way it knows how. The designer partnered with Dan Carter, a player for the New Zealand All Blacks, on a super limited-edition monogrammed rugby ball. The ball is made with rich black leather and decorated with the label’s ubiquitous monogram print in grey. Better yet, each one comes with a leather strap so you can wear it like a bag and be ready in case you ever wanna break into a rugby game, as well as a stand to display the piece in your home like sports decor. People love to frame jerseys and trophies and whatnot, so I reckon this is just taking it up a notch.

Only 112 of these designer rugby balls are said to be produced, so I can’t even imagine what the resale prices will be once they’re released in LV stores on September 20.

The NORMALS Collection by I Love Ugly is Anything But

New Zealand-based brand I Love Ugly once again flips the modern paradigm of collection showcases on its head, following a model-less campaign in July, with its new editorial, NORMALS.

Going in a dramatic new route with a bold air of confidence, the street-wear brand plugs ordinary men, or non-models, plucked directly from the street into the modest ad campaign, replete with rebellious expressions against earthy backgrounds. The men, all dressed in clothing that they pieced together themselves, display a line that is both high in self-assurance and strong in out-of the-box construction. A jacket, bearing the broken phrase “Nonsense,” seems to lead the visual direction of the August collection—a hodgepodge of garments that includes baseball jerseys, drooping bowties, and overlong tees with below-the-hem layering–for a sartorial shift towards drama that is both inherently fun and ominously unflinching.

The unknown models, who gaze confidently at the camera, offer up a challenging stare that says, “try to pull this off, I dare you.”

New Zealand Rugby Team Wins Game, Removes Shirts, Dances in Rain

shirtless_rugby_men-5

The headline pretty much covers it: New Zealand Rugby Team (the All Blacks) won their game (beating out England 26-7), removed their shirts, and performed the Haka dance (a traditional Māori posture dance) in the rain. Though the team is known for this (the All Blacks reenact the dance every match to intimidate the other team), the rain was a classy touch by Mother Nature, undoubtedly watching over with a crooked smile. Let the countdown to viral begin.

Lorde Hits #1 Becoming Youngest Since Tiffany’s ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’

lorde-billboard-cover-story-990-410

Ah, to be sixteen again. She, and be she we’re referring to that beaut above, Lorde, released her first solo album Pure Heroine a few weeks ago, after initially signing her record deal at the ripe (err…) age of thirteen. Twenty-six years ago sixteen-year-old Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now made a storied rise to number 1 on the charts. And now Lorde, the New Zealand chanteuse who’s made a meteoric rise with her international anti-excess theme song Royals, has finally clinched the top spot on the Billboard chartsTitles are great and all, but is the music any good? Well…

So it’s a yes. Even better, she’s got equally good other songs:

So what’s her secret? According to the singer: “I think it’s probably because I’m an Internet kid. I’m watching ‘Adventure Time’ but I’m also reading Allen Ginsberg. I’m a mesh of references — fun and smart? I don’t know where I’d put myself. I’d like to think I’m doing something different.” We’ll take it.
