Weekly Instagram Roundup: Gucci, Kris Van Assche, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Gucci

After reinventing its watch campaign for a millennial eye, Gucci takes to technology once again in this first look at Alessandro Michele’s upcoming exhibition. Traveling to Hong Kong for a three part installation, the event features the works highlighted in his recent limited edition print run, while adding new pieces from a range of female photographers—as well as the coveted Joshua Tree portraits of director Gia Coppola.

Kris Van Assche

Creative Director Kris Van Assche snapped a quick selfie to celebrate his first decade at the helm of Dior Homme. Wearing a celebratory shirt graffitied by his team, the photo offers a glimpse at the Rue de Marignan headquarters of the French brand’s design hub. In Van Assche’s 10 years, the fashion house has seen a gothic reinvention—classic styles reinterpreted with a serrated edge, as seen in its most recent Autumn/Winter 2017 runway, all while staying true to the clean cuts that have become a Dior staple.

Bella Hadid

Two icons pouting in one quick snapshot, fashion’s it-girl Bella Hadid shared an intimate moment with photographer Mert Alas for a thirsty Thursday treat. Dining at Omar’s La Ranita, the member’s only Manhattan hotspot, the pair celebrated their recent joint cover gig and Alas’ Fashion Los Angeles Awards win for his pet project, “Angels of Concrete,” shot in Berlin and London and featuring the new kids of street culture.

Lanvin

After celebrating its 10th anniversary just last year, Lanvin unveils a new look at its Spring/Summer 2017 in a video by photographer Jean-Christophe Moine. The French couture label showcases its fascinating mix of dejected grays and popping color that walked the Paris runways last year. A brain child of Creative Director Lucas Ossendrijver, the slow-moving video highlights the printed and embellished outerwear that had audiences clamoring.

Unqilo

Japanese retail giant Uniqlo descended upon New York City this week to unveil its latest LifeWear iterations. Showing in Spring Studios, the first time the event has been held within the U.S., the brand’s mass-market clothing line received a luxe touch through collaborations with high-fashion powerhouses, such as model and designer Ines de la Fressange and the upcoming Pitti Uomo participant J.W.Anderson.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Dolce&Gabbana, Topman, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce&Gabbana embraced its free-spirited Italian heritage with a peek at the brand’s new Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. Starring viral social media mogul Cameron Dallas and featuring the lush backdrop of Capri’s more colorful destinations, the images read like a raucous party in the most expensive wares.

Topman

Topman opened London Collection’s Men with a pulsating ’90s club collection, an unfiltered look at fashion through the ever-popular athleisure lens. With James Bay in attendance, rising model Lennon Gallagher walking, and tastemakers showing up wearing #topmanstyle in droves, LCM is off to a smashing start.

Jordan Barrett

After being crowned Models.com‘s 2016 Male Model of the Year, Jordan Barrett took to partying on the sunny shores of Sydney to ring in 2017. Soon to be taking the lead in Roberto Cavalli‘s Spring/Summer 2017 campaign, not to mention cover bookings and runway engagements, it’s no wonder this recently discovered Aussie is smiling.

Mert Alas

Embracing 2017 as only one of fashion’s most renowned photographers could, Mert Alas partied well into the night with Riccardo Tisci, who most recently reworked Givenchy’s VISOR eyewear, at his side. Look out for his and artistic partner Marcus Piggott’s upcoming works with DSQUARED2‘s, Givenchy‘s, and Giorgi Armani‘s Spring/Summer 2017 campaigns—#newlife indeed.

Roberto Bolle

American Ballet Theater principal dancer and former Dolce&Gabbana fashion ambassador Roberto Bolle rang in the new year alongside a few of his friends. After waving goodbye to 2016 with a heartbreaking performance of Romeo and Juliet with Misty Copeland, the ESSENTIAL HOMME June/July 2014 feature subject amped up the party in Trieste’s famed Politeama Rossetti.

Giving his best Nick Jonas Marky Mark and her best Kate Moss, musician Justin Bieber and top model Lara Stone front the global Spring 2015 campaigns for both Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear in a steaming black and white series shot by acclaimed fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

The images, a tension-filled homage to the American fashion brand’s famous editorial history also continues Calvin Klein‘s longstanding pursuit of bringing music and pop culture icons together with fashion, following collaborations—just the past year alone—with the likes of Drake, Sam Smith, Kanye West, Harry Styles, Ciara, Usher, and more.

Calvin Klein is such an iconic brand and I am excited and honored to become a part of the brand legacy with this campaign. I have been a longtime fan of the brand and have worn their jeans and underwear for a while, so this is kind of a dream come true,” said Bieber in a statement. “This is the beginning of an exciting new year for me, personally and professionally, and being a part of this campaign has been a fantastic opportunity and experience.”

In addition to the five-part photo campaign, Bieber and Stone star in a short #mycalvins video online.

Nolan Gerard Funk is the New Face of Versace

afp-nolan-funk-versace

To the left, to the left, Stefani Germanotta! Large fashion house campaigns are legendary for grabbing expertly-sculpted profiles/torsos to define the brand’s current and ever-evolving aesthetic, but few faces of fashion have as much buzz as the now-confirmed heartthrob Nolan Gerard Funk, who headlines Versace’s SS ’14 campaign. The Canadian-born actor/singer/dancer had a brief stint on Broadway, headlining a John Stamos/Gina Gershon Broadway revival of Bye, Bye, Birdie before roles on Fox’s Glee and MTV’s sleeper hit Awkward.

We’d be remiss not to mention his group sex scene in Paul Schrader’s ill-received The Canyons (“I don’t have an issue with sex scenes at all. There’ll be much more graphic scenes in my career, I’m sure. If anything, both Lindsay and I felt very strongly the love scene between us needed to be a lot longer,” he famously told Broadway.com back in August). But now he can add perhaps his most substantial credit to his ever-evolving CV, a campaign shot by fashion photography duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. The first images can be seen here, with more to rollout soon.
