Drake’s Autumn/Winter 2016 Lookbook

Quintessentially British, Drake’s Autumn/Winter 2016 lookbook is a break from tradition and a full embrace of the completely uniformed collection, featuring Jason Jules, the British designer and writer, and model Eshan Kali – both icons of British style. The undisputed highlight, and major milestone for the brand itself, is that, for the first time since Drake’s inception, the label will be offering its own British-made denim and dress trousers, allowing the full ideology of the campaign to showcase itself properly from head to toe.

Focusing on the outdoors and the incredible wildlife that Britain offers, the collection draws subtle comparisons to the unkempt and unruly tendencies of the natural world, internalizing the external within its fabrics. Jackets become rustic, knitwear becomes purposeful, and texture takes an important front seat as all pieces combine for the perfect outdoorsman ensemble. Bold yet tasteful, the collection is an ideal way to profess a love of all things wild while staying true to a classic British tailoring, one that has proved its immense staying power through the decades. Pair a bright vest with a dark overcoat and top with a true explorer’s beanie to let an exciting adventure begin.

STAMPD Takes New York City for Autumn/Winter 2016 Lookbook

West Coast street-style connoisseurs STAMPD head east for the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2016 lookbook. The collection, entitled New Soldiers, draws inspiration from military garb, as well as founder Chris Stamp’s experiences in New York City – coincidentally the lookbook shooting location. The grim images are filled with army green bombers paired with camo cargo pants that provide a not-so-subtle take on the theme. Neutral utilitarian fabrics and shapes dominate the collection, where streamlined wool coats and monochrome turtlenecks and trousers reference the simplicity of a uniform, playing on the city’s reputation for all-black everything. Touches of graphic text bring in the California surf/skate culture for a completed look of angsty class.

With this bold new era, STAMPD’s New Soldiers are ready for the harsh New York City winter.

Raf Simons x Fred Perry Autumn/Winter 2016

Raf SimonsImage: Fred Perry.

Newly appointed Calvin Klein creative leader Raf Simons partners with UK style monarch Fred Perry for a collaboration of dramatic ethos. This their 14th collaboration, the Belgian designer has attached his creative vision, one of intensity and clean-cut clarity, to the seminal pieces upon which Fred Perry grew British youth style.

Colors of ice and bronze are dashed across the collar of the piqué – its graphic trims a victorian boldness accentuated by the darted shape. A brazen, woolen base, unconventional yet slimming, is added to the hem of the padded bomber, while the double layer v-neck, an illusion in itself, alludes to a more historic vintage.

The classic knitted sports shirt, cuffed in a cooling contrast blue, becomes the geometric cousin to the Inatarsia crew neck, an eye-catching spectacle, that modernizes a collection ushering in a new age of British sartorial iconography. The zig zag stitch, noticeable to any Raf superfan as a graphic staple, and dual branding on the chest complete this must have collection – a new creative step for European modernism.

Eerily ominous and obliquely devoid, Études Studio‘s Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign, shot by Nicolas Poillot, utilizes ’60s underground aesthetics and Xerox’d imagery to produce an inherently complex reality.
