Italian footwear powerhouse Tod’s has recently finished the first phase in its massive restoration of Rome’s Colosseum. Five years since the brand’s Chairman Diego Della Valle announced his funding of the project, this initial portion has focused on refurbishing the northern and southern facades of the monument, cleaning existing mortar and replacing spots worn away over time. The 1,300-year old structure was the largest amphitheater in the Roman Empire, home to gladiator and wild animal fights. Della Valle’s support of the project is unsurprising as the brand consistently sponsors efforts by Italian brands and artists, and now, the refurbishment of one of Italy’s most prominent symbols.
