Hyper-Realistic Mannequins Haunt New Balenciaga Flagship

After departing from Vetements earlier this week, creative director Demna Gvasalia has shifted his focus to Balenciaga with a sleek new space on Madison Avenue. The new 4,500-square-foot space is heavy on Y2K aesthetics — think smooth metallic surfaces, curvilinear details, screens projecting atmospheric blue skies and other visuals that look like screensaver options for new computers, and general-spaceship vibes — that gives off the illusion of being trapped in a type of high-fashion simulation. Additionally, the creepiest and most enticing aspect of the store is the 3D printed mannequins based on the models that have walked in the designer’s shows.

See for yourself — the new store is open now at 620 Madison Ave, NY 10022.

Adidas x Raf Simons Reveal Reflective Sneakers

The latest output from the ongoing Raf Simons x Adidas sneaker collab is a futuristic take on the Glam Rock theme from Simons’ recent SS19 collection. The RS OZWEEGO is updated with reflective soles that evoke Y2K trend of the early aughts, while the brighter primary colorways in smooth leather echo the main inspiration from the collection. It might be a more subtle interpretation of the flashy rock genre made famous by David Bowie and Elton John, but the sneakers are still cool in a cyber-wave kinda way.

The RS OZWEEGO will be available in select stores and online starting May 23.

Gentle Fendi Unveils Eyewear in Superbly Strange Video

Fendi has collaborated with Korean eyewear designer Gentle Monster on a capsule collection of limited-edition eyewear. Mixing compelling and current styles with exquisite craftsmanship (manufactured by SAFILO), the Gentle Fendi range is a sleek option of timeless eyewear that’s perfect for summer style flexes. The first style is a thin metallic frame with tinted colored lenses that evoke the Y2K trend of yesteryear, while the second style is a more traditional yet modernized Top Gun aviator look. Both aesthetics are reflected in a trippy visual campaign that finds models testing out the eyewear while observing giant bacteria-looking cells against a pastel backdrop. See for yourself in the video above.

The Gentle Fendi collection is available in select Fendi and Gentle Monster stores and online now.
