CRAIG GREEN - TALISMAN 1 - COMPARISON

Craig Green Launches Transformer-Like Sculptures

Known for his unique vision that focuses on simple creations with deeply emotive qualities, Craig Green revealed a collection of images of his large-scale body-sculptures erected in abandoned buildings for his Spring/Summer ’18 campaign.

Resembling Transformers, each model is a general human outline with mechanical units, wooden rods, and transparent color fabric. Placed side by side are photographic duos of the the sculpture in it’s original form and the same sculpture burning. The photos are the only remnants of the pieces and even those can be destroyed. Green explores the importance of embracing the process of creation, the materials, but also accepting that the creations are not permanent. Check out the campaign below.

Scotch & Soda Releases Desert-Inspired SS18 Collection

Just in time for summer travel plans and away from NYC-sleet, Scotch & Soda dropped their newest campaign for SS18. The storyline follows behind on the shoulders of a wanderer treading the Jordanian desert and asking questions about everywhere.

The campaign represents the versatility of the collection, designed to be worn literally everywhere. The contemporary brand took an exotic turn with their pieces using sandy colors and unimposing fabrics. The result is desert-chic — paisley-patterned and Hawaiian-inspired shirts complement light patterned slacks.

The pieces, the location, and campaign effectively capture Scotch & Soda’s motto: Long live the way you call your own. The fashion label honors free-thinking, experimentation, and exploration in all. And even though the brand is based in Amsterdam, it is endlessly inspired by the world.

SS18 Most Wanted Hats

This spring, hats have reverted from berets and rolled up beanies to a sportier version, with buckets hats and baseball caps continuing to dominate on and off the runway. Baseball caps are now made from a variety of materials and colors, as seen at Gosha with the Burberry check and Fendi‘s mixed material brim. Dsquared2 gave a shout out to leather. The versatility of the hat was highlighted, styled in both athletic looks and tailored suit fits.

Bucket hats continue to be the leading streetwear staple. This season, they were featured in Louis Vuitton and Z Zegna this season and are surely to make an appearance on the streets. Boss opted for a tighter fit, while Raf Simons  exaggerated the rim enough that you probably don’t need an umbrella. Practical if you’re dealing with this Nor’easter.

Diesel Wants You to Own Your Flaws Right Now

Diesel‘s romantic Go with the Flaw mini-film campaign marks a new chapter for the brand’s mission statement by accepting beautifully flawed appearances. Idealized as pristine and unmarked, fashion is now looking back to embrace imperfections with brands like Diesel changing their entire ideologies to not only include imperfection, but center around them.

The video follows two darlings that fall in love and even produce a fruit of that relationship without realizing that both protagonists had major surgeries to fix obvious imperfections. Their son, however, still inherits both of their flaws. Yet the parents fully welcome his appearance, as most parents would and should of their child. Perhaps we all need a change of mind to thinking like a parent— always loving and never undermining.

Indeed, some of the world’s most iconic personalities accepted their imperfections as their greatest asset. Just a look at Cindy Crawford’s trademark beauty mark makes it obvious that uniqueness should encourage confidence rather than shame.

The video also welcomes the brand’s spring/summer 2018 collection focused on the currently trendy 90’s vibe, going back to the classic Diesel staples. The collection too is made for self-expression and contrasts to create a genuinely unique look for everyone.

Saturdays NYC Reveals its Lookbook for SS18

From the streets of Soho, Saturdays NYC never disappoints to deliver high-quality craftsmanship married with minimalism and a classic style internationally. For Spring/Summer 2018, the urban surfer label took up the subject of travel based on two core qualities: comfort en route and cultural exchange.

The brand took up the quality of their pieces making sure that it is breathable and comfortable, but they also incorporated traditional prints, regal colors, and landscapes found along the silk road. Ancient trade routes were the a major inspiration behind the collection. Traditional tie-dyeing techniques were especially important in the making of their tops. Paper yarn was used in the making of the brand’s knits. The new collection uses Kasuri fabrics and Shibori prints on contemporary silhouettes that emphasize proportion.

The collection will be available online and in stores at all US Saturdays NYC locations on February 1st and
worldwide on February 2nd .

NYFWM: Backstage Represent Spring/Summer 2018

0W5A9456
Image: Christopher Logan.

Reacting to a heightened political climate, Represent showcased Wide Awake for Spring/Summer 2018, a mashup of ’90s subculture and the British war era. With the devil in the details, the line utilized a grim palette of black, port, and ivory to tell a story of passion—the brand’s intrinsic tartan and wool ever present.
