Marc by Marc Jacobs Mens Spring 2013: The Return of the Kangol
The Marc by Marc Jacobs Mens Spring collection goes back through time, from the 50’s (a water color gingham), 60’s (wide stripes on pants), 80’s (ska prints, creeper shoes) and finally 90’s grunge/rave (oversized, striped sweaters). That he’s masterfully mixed these multifarious inspirations to beautiful effect, is no shock—Marc Jacobs is a pro at this sort of thing. What has surprised us though? The return of the Kangol newsboy—a hat that went from 80’s hip hop, to 90’s rave to…Eminem’s head and then nowhere. Well, for Spring 2013 they’ll be back. Those seen on the runway—a collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Kangol design director Nic Harris—are a limited edition collection and feature a new embroidered logo created specifically for the occasion and will be sold in Marc by Marc Jacobs stores.
