Old Forrester is superb. The signature 100 proof is ideal for manhattans and the Birthday Bourbon has been one of my picks for best value for what you get for many years. But the Woodford Double Oaked is simply amazing. Don’t dismiss it before you try it.

Van Winkel, Parkers and Willet are all amazing. They are also extremely limited in availability where Woodford is a full regular product. Also have you tasted it?

Stumbled across this lil fact at the Woodford distilery tour! At the bottling portion of the tour (where bottling machine was, but not running) my buddy noticed a barrell that had white paint over the bottom of a barrell that the tourguid was pulling bourbone from,  this barrell actually had the words Old Forrester slightly bleeding through the white paint. So he say’s to the wonderful tour guide we had “why the hell does that say Old Forrester” tour guide gets a little bit bedazzled and says I will get to that in a second, then goes on to tell everyone that demand is so high for Woodford that they ship the product from Versailes distillery to Louisville where it is cut with Old Forrester! That being said, I can certainly taste a slight difference in Woodfords taste compared to other bourbon & I like it, but wont ever be paying the steep price for it, not if I can get Old Forrester for a third of the price!

Fancy bottle, fancy add campaigns in fancy magazines. Super premium should be verbage reserved for a pour that stands out to you, not a price point.

What PR stooge or suck up stated this?

“top of the line”? No. It’s tasty…but…ever hear of Van Winkle? Ever hear of Willett? Maybe Parker’s Reserve? Black Maple Hill? No? Maybe the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection? Even Four Roses have FAR more rare, tasty & “premium” labels.

I have become a huge Bourbon fan in the last year and have visited the Bourbon Trail Distillery Tours. My husband and I recently moved to Wisconsin and have educated several people on what Terrific Bourbon really is…Kentucky made Bourbon.
Awaiting a shipment of Double Oak Woodford Reserve to come to our local supply store.
