Balenciaga Releases Book for its Winter ’18 Collection

The first in a series of creative documentation projects, Balenciaga is releasing a specially crafted book, titled Balenciaga: Winter 18. In rare form, photographers Johnny Dufort and Pierre-Ange Carlotti worked together to re-create and share the essence seen at the Winter ’18 show, under the creative direction of Demna Gvasalia and publisher Rizzoli.

Neon colors are incorporated into each image by modifying the CMYK color, and the result creates a visually stunning experience. The book is finished with swiss binding and sharp beveled edges, while a repeated graffiti motif is printed on the cover. The overall result is a captivating BTS look at one of the year’s most talked about fashion presentations.

“With this show in particular, even backstage looked like a story,” Gvasalia shared in a statement. “I realized that every show I do from now on for Balenciaga is cinematographic… I’d like to accompany with some memorabilia, something that actually puts you into that show and the process behind it.” The tome provides an exclusive look at the show but, more importantly, serves as a true artifact in itself.

Balenciaga’s Fall 2018 book will start going on sale online tomorrow. Take a look at some images below.

Two of Toronto’s coolest brands are teaming up again for a limited edition capsule collection. Outerwear giant Canada Goose just released their second collaboration today with Drake’s clothing line, October’s Very Own (OVO). Drake teased the new line on Instagram over a week ago with an image of a rack of pink satin bomber jackets and a cryptic red rose emoji.

The latest collab expands on the first with more accessories and colors to keep you looking fresh all winter. Canada Goose’s staple Chilliwack Bomber Jacket returns in ‘pink dawn’ and ‘steel grey’ satin with gold zippers. In keeping with Canada Goose’s heritage, the collection also features a Shearling Pilot Hat that also comes in ‘pink dawn’ and ‘steel grey.’ The beanie and scarf are %100 merino wool made in Italy and feature OVO’s name and owl logo, both of which are available in sterling heather and black colorways. Check it out below.

Walking down the street and being surrounded by people wearing standard black heavy duty jackets can make long winters even gloomier. That’s why this season we are thankful for French outerwear giant Moncler teaming up with streetwear label Kith for a fabulous winter line that’s anything but basic.

The collection is upbeat, cool, and practical. The first part of the collection drops December 2nd and consists of lacquered nylon jackets, hoodies, accessories and boots. The pieces are bold yet classic, following a simple and timeless red, white, blue and black color theme. Both brand’s logos and symbols can be seen throughout the pieces. The rest of the collection drops a week later, offering t-shirts, hats and a series of sheepskin-lined suede trainers designed in collaboration with Asics. The trainers are available in navy, red, and even leopard print, for the more daring.

The capsule collection will be available tomorrow at Kith and Moncler stores and online, as well as at famed Parisian concept store Colette before it closes for good on the 20th of December.

Opening Ceremony Expands With Sportswear-Inspired Torch 2 Collection

Opening Ceremony is dropping their second collection of pieces for their ongoing TORCH series where it releases limited-edition sporty heritage items monthly. The word TORCH evokes the spirit of the Olympics, and the line does exude a strong and sharp Olympian look — the varsity jackets and red, white and blue details add a preppy All-American vibe. It wouldn’t be the first time the brand dabbles with Olympic merch, since they installed a pop-up shop in the Brooklyn Museum last summer to celebrate the 2016 ceremonies. Now we really want OC to design the US Team’s uniforms at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Fingers crossed.

New key items of the color-blocked minimal unisex collection include the Nylon Reversible Puffer Jacket, which includes a bandana-inspired print, and the Warm-Up Track Suit. For accessories, the line is rounded up with berets, totes and fanny packs. Along with the OC’s collaboration with Columbia, TORCH is perfect for those looking to add more colorful and casual options to their usual winter wardrobe. Check out some highlights in the slideshow below.

The second collection will be available tomorrow at Opening Ceremony stores and online.
