Pierre Hardy Releases New Sneaker with Victor Cruz

This week in sneakers: Pierre Hardy is releasing a new limited-edition sneaker collection with professional football star Victor Cruz, dubbed the V. C. I. The athlete has a close relationship with the designer, frequently visiting the designer’s studio in Paris during fashion season, but the decision to officially work together occurred sometime last spring.

The new footwear styles are modeled after significant years in Cruz’s life: the 1996 model is a blue and orange color-blocked sneaker that represents the year the athlete “fell in love with football.” The 2006 style is a bold black-and-grey shoe that recalls Cruz’s first varsity season at the University of Massachusetts and finally, the 2012 sneaker represents Cruz’s first Superbowl victory with the New York Giants.

“We started from taking a pre-existing construction of a shoe in my collection, and then we emphasized it by making it stronger in appearance,” Hardy said in a statement. “The look became something performative or Olympian — a super-competitive shoe. We tried to push the aesthetic to the maximum, to make the sneakers as expressive as possible.”

The V.C.I. is available in select Pierre Hardy stores and online tonight at 6pm EST.

Givenchy Creative Director Riccardo Tisci interprets power and confidence in the label’s Autumn/Winter 2015 advertising campaign. Always one for the charismatic, the label taps New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz for star billing, serving as Tisci’s inspiration for his “gentleman with the looks of a bad boy” form.

Tiffany & Co.’s Campaign for the Tiffany CT60

When Tiffany & Co. comes to mind, many immediately imagine a classic engagement ring inside a robin egg blue box. What some might be unaware of, though, is that the iconic jewelry maker also has a long history in men’s watches. Now Tiffany brings its luxury timepieces to the forefront with the launch of Tiffany CT60, a new collection of watches inspired by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany and his company’s birthplace, New York City.

Patterned after the Tiffany & Co. gold watch originally given to President Franklin Roosevelt in 1945, the new pieces have an updated twist in design, along with a campaign featuring New York men sharing their lives in a New York minute. In the brand’s new video, Victor Cruz, wide receiver of the New York Giants and 2012 Super Bowl Champion, is seen taking a cab ride through the city while Marcus Samuelsson, award-winning chef and author, rides the subway to his restaurant, Red Rooster. “Salvador Dali said if it doesn’t exist in New York, it doesn’t exist”, says Alexander Gilkes, co-founder of online auction house Paddle8, from a chic café and Nick Wooster, previous men’s fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman, struts through the streets with his Tiffany CT60 like the true men’s street style king that he is.

A Night Celebrating Calvin Klein Collection and Italo Zucchelli

Pitti is first and foremost about the collections, but also, the grand events. Last night was proof as such. Calvin Klein Collection hosted a private event full on party, in honor of the brands’ Men’s Creative Director, Italo Zucchelli, to celebrate his Fall 2013 runway show. The event was held at the Franco Parenti Theatre, a theatrical and music performance venue in Milan where Ellie Goulding, (who was, of course, wardrobed in Calvin Klein Collection) kicked off her first live performance of the year. Ms. Goulding performed songs from her latest album, Halycon, which, by the way, the official “Halycon Days” tour kicks off in Miami, Florida on January 16th. Following her performance, Hercules and Love Affair, a musical project from New York, took to the stage and did their neo-house thing until the end of the evening. Among the editors and notables in attendance, those wardrobed in Calvin Klein Collection included actor Justin Theroux and New York Giants’ Victor Cruz, both of whom also attended the show earlier that day. Additionally, photographer, blogger, and model Hanneli Mustaparta, who is a contributor to Calvin Klein’s official Tumblr® blog, was on hand to capture the event and wardrobed in Calvin Klein Collection. For the men’s runway show, Ms. Mustaparta posted insider and behind the scenes photos of the Fall 2013 collection on the brand’s Tumblr®. (You can click here—calvinklein.tumblr.com to view her exclusive images). We’ve got some golden ones from backstage fixture, Kevin Tachman. Right this way…
