Watch the Trailer for the Mother’s Day Horror Flick ‘Run’

One of the most beloved horror tropes is the unhinged mother. Whether its Pamela Vorhees avenging her son’s death by killing teenage camp counselors in Friday the 13th or Toni Colette just absolutely losing it after the death of her child in Hereditary (I’m sensing a pattern here), there’s nothing more unnerving (and entertaining) than watching a mother unravel. This definitely seems to be the case for Run, a new psychological thriller starring American Horror Story-alum Sarah Paulson due out later this spring.

In the new trailer for Run, Paulson seems poised to join the pantheon of iconic horror moms. The film casts her as a single mother raising a wheelchair-bound daughter who eventually starts to question her mom’s intentions. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, but there are shots of a possible name change, unhealthy overbearing tendencies, and possible traces of Munchausen syndrome that suggest that maybe mother doesn’t always know best. Even better, the movie is slated to come out during Mother’s Day weekend.

Run will be released on May 8. Watch the trailer above now.

‘The French Dispatch’ Trailer is Peak Wes Anderson

The first trailer for the forthcoming Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch has arrived. Featuring an A-list cast of frequent collaborators like Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody alongside rising stars like Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, the film is a visual overdose of Anderson-isms.

Set in a fictional French city during the 20th century, the film (which is shot in both black and white and color) follows three different storylines at an American newspaper. (The film’s poster was even inspired by old The New Yorker covers.) The aforementioned sagas involve some expectedly quirky characters including an incarcerated artist, some student revolutionaries, and a crime-solving cook. And since its a Wes Anderson film, expect tons of meticulous symmetric shots, pastel hues, pseudo-political commentary, and delightfully witty banter. If it’s not already the most anticipated film of the year, it’s likely to be the most stylish.

The French Dispatch opens on July 24. Watch the trailer above now.

Watch the First Trailer for the Margiela Documentary

Martin Margiela is the man behind some of the most recognized fashion designs of the last century. From his signature tabi boots to the opaque veils models routinely wore when walking in his shows, his presence over the industry continues to reign. Yet the man behind the seams of the revelatory creations has managed to remain virtually invisible throughout his groundbreaking 30-year career.

“I don’t like the idea of being a celebrity,” a voiceover, who we can assume to be Margiela himself but one can never be sure, says in the trailer for the upcoming documentary chronicling his career. “Anonymity is very important.”

Martin Margiela: In His Own Words made its world premiere last year at the Doc NYC Film Festival. It marks one of the first times the eponymous designer, who has seldom granted an interview and hardly ever been photographed, goes on the record to discuss his work. In addition to revisiting memorable runway moments, like the infamous hair jackets that first debuted in 2009, and providing interviews with peers like Jean Paul Gaultier, the documentary offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain of the most intriguing French designers of all time.

Tragically, there’s still no word on when the film will be released. Until then, watch the trailer for Martin Margiela: In His Own Words above now.

What’s Going On in the ‘Come to Daddy’ Trailer?

These days, it’s best to go into a movie knowing as little about it as possible. With spoiler alerts and the general overdose of information we’re confronted with these days thanks to smartphones, social media, and cryptically judgmental Co-Star notifications, it’s hard to foster any sense of mystery. After it was recommended that I watch the now Academy Award-nominated Parasite without reading too much about it, and being completely shook by the whole viewing experience, I was sold: when it comes to new movies — to (sorta) quote Tame Impala and Rihanna — the less you know the better.

Which brings us to Come to Daddy. Let’s start with what we know about the upcoming horror-comedy flick: Elijah Wood stars as a man with a severe bowl-cut who travels to meet his estranged, eccentric father in a remote cabin by a lake. While that premise is as promising as any premise can hope to be, that’s all we get. In the trailer, it’s clear that Elijah’s life clearly spirals out of control after reconnecting with his dad in ways that range from a little uncomfortable (like walking in on a stranger pooping) to a potential full-on homicide. How’s that for daddy issues?

Come to Daddy hits theaters on February 7. Watch the trailer above.

Harley Quinn is Back in New ‘Birds of Prey’ Trailer

Harley Quinn was easily the breakout star from the star-studded yet ultimately underwhelming Suicide Squad in 2016. In addition to becoming one the most popular Halloween costumes that year, Quinn (portrayed by Margot Robbie) was one of the few redeeming parts of the superhero movie — she even eclipsed Jared Leto’s over-the-top take on the Joker. Now the beloved character is back to tell her side of the story in the forthcoming Birds of Prey.

Robbie reprises her role as the charmingly delusional anti-hero and is joined by Rosie Perez, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell to form a vigilante girl gang to take on a masked crime lord (Ewan McGregor). The film seems like a campy departure from the dark and moody tone of Suicide Squad, with Robbie’s undeniable charisma and presence in full force. Expect to see a lot more Harley Quinns this Halloween.

Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7. Watch the trailer above now.

Get a First Look at ‘A Quiet Place Part II’

Last year’s A Quiet Place, the directorial debut by John Krasinki (aka Jim from The Office) was an unexpected hit. The innovative almost-silent horror film, which chronicles a post-apocalyptic world in the near future that’s been overrun by creatures that hunt by sound, was a commercial and critical success that saw Krasinski star alongside his wife, Emily Blunt. Shortly after the film’s surprise success became apparent, a sequel was announced with Krasinski resuming writing and directing duties and today the first official teaser trailer was released. In the new 30-second clip,  we see the Blunt return with her two children as they seem determined to venture beyond their safety zone and take on the creatures and who knows what else.

A Quiet Place Part II hits theaters on March 20, 2020. Watch the teaser trailer above now.

Watch Daniel Craig Pass the Torch in New Bond Trailer

Ever since it was announced that actress Lashana Lynch would succeed Daniel Craig in the next Bond film, No Time to Die, the public has been anticipating their next dose of the famed secret agent with bated breath. Rumors of Craig’s departure had been circulating for a while, but I don’t think anyone was expecting the franchise to cast Lynch, the first female and black actor to take on the role. It’s a huge deal and will undoubtedly inspire an entirely fresh generation of James Bond fans.

The first official trailer for the upcoming film has just dropped and it’s a doozy. There’s all the archetypal Bond-isms: fast cars, explosions, expensive suits, gunfire, international cities, the works. Rami Malek stars as the villain, apparently. And Lynch seems at ease as she inherits Britain’s most iconic film role with effortless poise.

No Time to Die hits theaters in April 2020. Watch the trailer for the film above now.

Bad Boys Are Back in New Trailer for ‘Bad Boys for Life’

Almost 17 years since the last Bad Boys installment, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back for one last round. Bad Boys for Life (directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah) finds the duo once again good-cop-and-bad-copping, shooting things, driving fast, and dodging explosions in classic Hollywood action form. The film has reportedly been a decade in the making, so fans can delight in the knowledge that an anticipated conclusion to one of the most popular action franchises is near. Plus, with a new Terminator movie also coming out this winter, it seems to be a good season to take your dad to the cinema.

Bad Boys for Life will be released on January 17. Watch the trailer above.

What is Happening in the ‘Cats’ Trailer

Gather round, kitty girls: the first trailer for the upcoming Cats live-action remake has been unveiled. Apart from the star-studded cast — which includes the lovable James Corden, vocal luminary Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson, That’s-Dame-to-You Judi Dench, gay British screen legend Ian McKellen, Jason Derulo (Jasooon Deruuloo), and Taylor Swift — little has been said about what the film would actually entail. In case anyone has been paying attention to new The Lion King (out today and starring Beyonce), public response to any live-action musical (particularly of the feline variety — lions still count as cats, I checked) has been mixed at best. That being said, a Jennifer Hudson rendition of ‘Memory’ is sure to give me more life than my mother did 25 years ago. So paws up for that.

Watch the trailer above and Hollywood, maybe two live-action cat musicals is enough for the year.

Cole Haan’s Inspiring Docu-Series on the American Dream

Video: Cole Haan.

Cole Haan has partnered with Happy Marshall Productions for the brand’s first-ever feature film entitled “The American Dream Project.” Officially released earlier this week, the inspiring docu-series is an exploration captured by filmmaker James Marshall and photographer Todd William, who both traveled over 5,000 miles via motorcycles from New York to Los Angeles to see if the American Dream still exists and what it actually looks like today. With $250 and a hunger for adventure, the two optimistic friends crowdsourced social media to connect with friendly strangers across the country in order to find places to stay and stories to share. “Cole Haan’s mission has always been to inspire people to work hard for what they believe in,” said a spokesperson for the brand. “Supporting ‘The American Dream Project’ was a natural fit.” The film showcases American kindness, generosity, and resilience through the people Marshall and Williams were able to meet.
