After 11 years serving as artistic director, Kris Van Assche is leaving Dior Homme, the French designer announced earlier today. Former Louis Vuitton artistic director Kim Jones (who announced his own departure earlier this year — watch his final show here) has been announced as his replacement. Accordingly, Van Assche will be reassigned to another brand under the LVMH Group in the near future.

Kim Jones’ first collection for Dior Homme will be presented during the coming June 2018 Men’s Fashion Week.He will join the company of Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior women’s haute couture and ready-to-wear. His streetwear credibility is expected to seep through in Dior’s usually slim-tailored ensembles, as street influences continue to infiltrate the luxury space.

Heron Preston Puts Vladimir Putin’s Face on a T-Shirt

For better or for worse, fashion continues to be political. Cult streetwear label Heron Preston is now selling a black T-shirt with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s face, and the words “Mr.President” embellished with crystals on it for $594 at KM20, a popular concept store in Moscow. Heron’s position can be viewed as a direct political position or instead an ironic conversation starter in regards to the controversial politician.

The bold move comes just days before the Russian presidential election on March 18th which Putin is expected to win for a fourth time. Amidst the political environment are also headlines of a poisoning of a former Russian spy in England, and ongoing rumors of intervention in the United States presidential election in 2016.

The American designer confesses to have no interest in politics and simply emphasizes the inspiration he finds in Russian style, which inspired the partnership with KM20. Famous for attracting Russia’s “golden youth,” the boutique is known for surprising collaborations, edgy trends, and risky moves. While the T-shirt is currently branded as a a tourist souvenir, the hefty price, subject, and timing suggest are leading critics to label it propaganda. See for yourself in the comments below.

Calvin Klein Releases its Latest Chunky Sneaker

Calvin Klein continues the chunky footwear trend with the release of its Carlos sneaker. While contributing to the growing fashion movement, this release marks the first Calvin Klein 205W39NYC sneaker designed by Raf Simons, who was appointed chief creative officer of the classic label last year — watch the latest show for FW18 here.

The new model fits the dad sneaker mold perfectly, whether you’re on the court or picking up the kids from school. It’s available in four different color options, including vintage-inspired green and red embellishments in addition to the classic black and white palette. The shoe itself is a soft leather and velvet suede pairing with rubber wing accents. The gripped rubber sole makes them just as athletic as urban — a perfect blend of athleisure and streetwear.

The Calvin Klein Carlos sneaker is available at StyleBop.com now.
