Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen is a study in contrasts for Spring 2014. Light plays out alongside dark, patterns share space with solids. The fit, overall, is loose and freeing, with extreme care taken to allow full movement and the passage of air over the body on hot days. Outerwear is a study in color blocking, lines of pattern or light creasing sharply onto dark backgrounds, or vice versa. There is traditional suiting, though it is rendered in brighter colors and never paired with a collared shirt or tie. Overall, the collection is one of unrestrained expression, of accepting the loosening of standards and constraints that comes with rising temperatures. Mr. Cohen invites us to relax our normal propriety and embrace the freedom of the Springtime.
