New Guards Group, the Milan-based conglomerate that owns many beloved streetwear brands, including Off-White, Palm Angels, and Heron Preston, has just been purchased by online fashion platform Farfetch for a solid $675 million.
“The addition of New Guards’ brand platform brings a creative and industrial dimension to our suite of capabilities which, combined with our community of more than 650 boutiques, enables us to power and promote both new and existing creative names in the luxury industry to build the brands of the future,” CEO of Farfeth José Neves said in a statement.
With this new acquisition, the company is fully committed to investing in tomorrow’s talent. Additionally, it’s likely that Heron Preston and Off-White will continue to run and operate on their own without interference.
Last year, Moncler announced it would collaborate with a rotating series of artists as part of its Moncler Genius initiative. The program’s latest output arrives this summer with a series of pieces designed in partnership with Los Angeles-based Palm Angels. The collection was helmed by Francesco Ragazzi, who centered the concept on the idea of a “vandalized art gallery,” and found inspiration in trashed, metallic candy wrappers. The resulting pieces are a glossy yet insurgent take on Moncler’s signature outerwear.
In the age of designer sportswear as everyday-wear, it’s easy to forget that athletic gear usually serves a function when being used for actual sports. But Los Angeles based skate brand Palm Angels takes this concept even further with its newest capsule collection designed with Under Armour that focuses on post-fitness recovery, which is totally as important. The range of fear features an innovative material — designed with infrared textile manufacturer Celliant — that absorbs natural body heat and repurposes it into energy that aids in the body’s recovery process. The collection of hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants, and more can be worn both when working out or sleeping, rendering it a versatile and efficient addition to any wardrobe.
The Palm Angels x Under Armor will be available in select stores and online on April 19.
Palm Angels presented a new concept in Milan after their collaboration with the Swedish House Mafia. The collection is full of perfect rave elements– neon colors, chest bands, hoodies, etc. And of course, one could not miss the micro-matrix sunnies that all models wore.

Diving into the surfer’s subculture, Palm Angels displayed pure angst on its Milan Fashion Week runway. Choosing to descend into the tumultuous underbelly of California youth, the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 line utilized sun-fades, “RAGE” graphics, and rhythmic patterns to break summer’s cheery disposition.

Choosing to build upon, rather than branch away from, its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Palm Angels continues to update sportswear for a more graphically savvy crowd with its Autumn/Winter line—notice a similar color palette with bare midriffs and tightly hooded figures running rampant.
