Naomi Campbell Stars in Vivienne Westwood’s SS20 Campaign

Vivienne Westwood cast supermodel Naomi Campbell in her latest Spring/Summer 2020 campaign shot in Paris by photographer Juergen Teller. Set in the 18th arrondissement, the campaign features a take on the Westwood-kind-of mythology with a reincarnation of birds of paradise and other magical creatures shot under neon lighting in the face of Campbell and her costar Andreas Kronthaler.

Campbell has had quite the history with Westwood after famously taking a fall at her 1993 Fall/Winter show. At the helm of her career, Campbell was then extremely embarrassed and blamed herself for not having practiced enough — the heels were really high. But the young model sitting on the runway, smiling in pink boa feathers has become an iconic image in itself. And even though the pair worked many times since then, this marks her debut in a campaign for the British designer. “I believe things in life come along when they are meant to. It’s taken 33 years to do a Westwood Campaign and I’m so happy to be doing it in my 49th year,” Campbell said in a release. “It’s meant to be when its meant to be…”

Acclaimed Fashion Photographer Peter Lindbergh has Died

Peter Lindbergh, the internationally esteemed German fashion photographer, died earlier this week on September 3. He was 74 years old.

Lindbergh is known for his work in the ’90s, shooting some of the biggest supermodels of the time, including Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell — his cover shoot for the January 1990 issue of Vogue is said to be the catalyst for the Age of the Supermodel which dominated the decade. He was known for his candid approach to photography and his strong aversion to retouching. His work will surely continue to echo and influence fashion photography for generations to come.

Calvin Klein’s Fall ’19 Underwear Campaign is as Star-Studded as Ever

Calvin Klein‘s ability to continually churn out viral celebrity campaign remains unrivaled. Following an earlier spring campaign that was basically a crash course in Gen Z it-people (including Noah Centineo, Billie Eilish, and Shawn Mendes among others), the designer has unveiled another global underwear campaign for fall: #MYCALVINS IRL.

This time around, the label challenges the viewer to reconsider what sexy means IRL, blurring the lines between public perception and private reality and challenging convention. So, naturally, Calvin Klein cast a group of beautiful famous people including Diplo, Odell Beckham, Jr, Beth Ditto, Jacob Elordi, Matthew Noszka, Bella Hadid, Lay Zhang, Jelly Lin, Cara Taylor, and the incomparable Naomi Campbell, in a candid image series shot by Daniel Jackson. An accompanying video was shot by Bardia Zeinali. Check out some of the images from the campaign in the gallery above.

Naomi Campbell Stars in Film for Equinox Hotels

The first-ever Equinox Hotels set to open in Hudson Yards, New York this summer, chose Naomi Campbell as their debut feature in a film by SHOWstudio‘s Nick Knight. In a sensual clip, the supermodel embodies the three pillars of the brand: Movement, Nutrition, and Regeneration.

To start, Cambell is stretching in a monochrome setting. The film then moves to vibrant hues of neon pink where the model is boxing and doing tons of cardio. The second part is meant to inspire our taste buds as Campbell eats cherries and other delights with wine red lips. The hotel, analogically, will offer a restaurant and bar by Stephen Starr.

She finally falls asleep in light tones of blue and sheer curtains. The last scene is symbolic of the signature Tier X sleep coaching service to be implemented at the hotel.

The Met Gala’s Best ‘You Can’t Sit with Us’ Moments

Nicole copy

Because one #girlsnight selfie is never enough — we’re talking about the gram featuring friends Chelsea Handler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts, Gwen Stefani, Stella McCartney, and Sam Taylor-Wood, of course — boho-chictress and one-time Paris Hilton best friend, Nicole Richie decided to go in once more, this time re-upping the line-up. Getting a little “wild for the night,” Richie along with her prevailing purple-hair-don’t-care mane, linked up with another group of super-famous buddies including Hayden Panettiere, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Zooey Deschanel, and fashion it girl/bad girl/friend of bad gal Cara Delevingne.

Stella McCartney, a member of the original #girlsnight but not included in Nicole’s “wild for the night” moment, decided to stage a moment of her very own, recruiting, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Bosworth, Rihanna, and the photo-gluttonous Delevingne.

Delevingne, not one to be left out, than hopped over for a photo-op with Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci (“SOMEONE CAN STEP ON YOUR SHOES. NO ONE CAN STEP ON YOUR MEMORIES. I’M HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME RIGHT NOW,” Tisci Tweeted), along with the creative director’s date for the evening, Ms. Naomi Campbell, plus more Kate Bosworth, and everyone’s favorite/a lot of people’s least favorite Kim Kardashian (who, herself, had quite the night on Instagram).

Then of course their was Bey (herself having a very active night on Instagram) who in a rare moment away from hubby Jay-Z, snapped the above photo with her sister Solange, Lupita Nyong’o, and the Supreme, herself, Sarah Paulson.

Naomi Campbell Hits The Paris Runway; Gasps Ensue

Naomi Campbell opens the show for Versace

Twenty some hours ago, Naomi Campbell sent out a semi-cryptic tweet reading, “A Dreamcometrue guess where I am … ??” And while we immediately ‘guessed’ Paris Fashion Week, the why she was there proved a little more significant.

”I’m so happy to be here in Paris tonight to walk for Donatella. We’ve known each other over 25 years now. Straight away I felt like part of the family, everybody was so warm and supportive. And of course there was Gianni. Apart from being one of the most inspirational and respected of designers of all time, he was like a brother to me… always there in good and bad times the memory will never fade. So as you can tell this is an emotional evening for me. It really is a great privilege to be here.”

It’s been fifteen years since Campbell has worked the runway for Versace, so when the forty-three-year-old super-beauty hit the stage, the flashbulbs danced into an immediate cosmic trance.

Her first look, a bodysuit — emphasis on the body — was constructed using hook and eyes to hold the jacket together, while the fastenings were “left undone in certain places giving the impression of being undressed,” the house said, adding that each hook was held in place with Swarovski crystals.

Then she was back, closing out the show, this time offering even more leg in a body suit embroidered with black crystals and a woven mink fur and chiffon and silk tulle cardigan that breezed back and forth with each commanding step.

Donatella Versace was on hand sans her signature Marlboro Reds (“For the first month and a half, I had no desire to smoke. Now, all of a sudden, I see someone with a cigarette, I want to steal it.”) telling reporters ”I wanted to make [the show] new, and pictured a sexy and sophisticated woman with a strong attitude. Only a true icon like Naomi Campbell could open this show.”

Celebs including Uma Thurman, Emma Roberts, Mena Suvari, and Zachary Quinto were on hand (hiding any cigarettes, we hope) to watch Campbell do what Campbell do best. And she did.
