LOUIS VUITTON SPRING/SUMMER 2013

Filtered though Kim Jones’ and Marc Jacobs’ eyes, the nautical theme pervasive throughout this collection is anything but the norm. The look combines the myriad Vuitton man, at once classic, refined yet both street and pop. It is achieved through silhouettes—relaxed, easy, utilitarian, light and supple (even the crocodile jacket) and through a simple color palette of navy, white with flashes of yellow and fluorescent. You’ll also notice updates to check bags with newly trimmed in navy and neon (among other innovations), the prevalence of Epi deck shoes and what may be the triumphant return of the fisherman’s hat.

Travelteq's Reversible Jacket and Your (Possible) Opinionated Discount

Esteemed Amsterdam based Travelteq has come up with a reversible nylon travel jacket meant to transform from business into pleasure in just a few fell swoops. The formal side mimes the distinguished look of a blazer and while the casual one helps you look sporty all over. Nylon is a material that does travel well, especially on incommodious flights, but depending on what kind business you’re traveling, it may be a touch too unconventional. Either way, its not a bad idea and we can certainly imagine it being a useful item to have in our travel bag of tricks. But the jacket has yet to be made and TravelTeq would like to hear your thoughts about it. Send in your feedback by clicking through here (http://www.travelteq.com/Travel-Jacket) and when they do finalize the jacket, you’ll find that you’ll be able to purchase the jacket for just 150 Euro rather than the full retail price of 250 Euro.

Banana Republic Fall Holiday 2012 Collection

Of all the colors that invoke both the the business like attitude of autumn as well as the season’s intrinsic earthiness, none is more mighty than crimson. In their 2012 Fall Holiday collection Banana Republic made clever use of this versatile color, discreetly working it into the plaid of a blazer that was matched with a woven gingham shirt of the same hue and finally paired with a crimson crew neck sweater. Shown with a vintage inspired charcoal pant, it would do the wearer well in countryside getaways but could easily transform to the office were it to be worn with either khaki or dark chinos. Speaking of which, a crimson chino styled with navy turtleneck, navy shall sweater and a navy cashmere top coat had all the trimmings of an elegant day into evening weekend in either the city or the country. The collection’s most stalwart item came in the form of a gorgeous crimson heritage shawl sweater. Worn over the industrious black and white stripes of a perfect for work button up and charcoal herringbone trousers, its the perfect layering piece to go from home, to the office, to whichever rural destination your fall travel may imbue.

Jack Spade Gets European

A more natural fit than London is hard to imagine for Jack Spade’s first ever European Store. And while the name Jack may still inspire fear in some Londoners (let us not forget he of Ripper lineage), judging by the jocular turn out for the store’s opening celebration, Jack Spade is more than a welcome addition to the British capital. The 1000 square foot store, located on Brewer Street in Soho, will house Jack Spade’s full range of bags, clothing, wallets, ties and other such unique accoutrements the brand is so well known for. A New Kenneth Cole Line is Born

Kenneth Cole recently announced a brand new addition to the brand’s family of menswear with the Kenneth Cole Collection. To debut in Fall of 2012, the collection is a welcome fashionably forward step for Cole who is perhaps better known for his handsome albeit mainstream collections that are meant to be worn in tandem. On the contrary, according to Cole himself, the Kenneth Cole Collection will speak “to the modern customer and the way we dress today…It’s less about head-to-toe looks, and more about the way we style impact pieces with basics to create the ultimate urban wardrobe. Over time, Kenneth Cole Collection will continue to elevate the directional, pinnacle styles of each season.” This exciting news comes paired with a sneak peak look at the new collection which was inspired by the mother-lode of fashion forward—New York City. (Preview the first Kenneth Cole Collection after the jump.)

Dockers Fall 2012 Preview

Fall previews on beautiful summery fridays such as today are difficult to imagine, but when its Dockers, we have no problem closing the window and imagining the crisp breeze of fall. New for Fall ’12 you’ll find a smart interpretation of the regular cargo pant in the Urban Explorer Khaki which forgoes bulky pockets for minimal looking hidden slits. You’ll also see the Scout Cargo which marries slim and tapered with the rugged detailing of motorcycle pants. The Alpha Khaki, which won our hearts over last season and rarely leave our regular repertoire of dress, comes in a new range of autumnal shades like Manzanita Bark, Red Ochre and even a herringbone till. Yes. We are still in shock that Dockers new cuts have become staples in our everyday wardrobe. Which reminds us—now that its March, we can finally buy all the beautiful Spring ’12 merchandise we were eyeing back in the winter!

Paul Smith Marks 25 Years in NYC

Paul Smith took his first bite out of The Big Apple back in March of 1987 when he opened his first ever American retail store on the corner of 16th streets and 5th Ave. The store, which Paul Smith and his team designed themselves, has become an iconic part of the New York City shopping scene with its “classic with a twist” aesthetic that perfectly matches Smith’s clothing. To celebrate the quarter century landmark, Paul Smith has taken another bite out of The Big Apple, this time beautifully integrating the images of the apple into anything from T-shirts, button ups, wallets and laptop cases (just to name a few). The “anniversary collection (or “apple collection” as we’re calling it) in addition to other limited edition wares (like a watch and gold plated cufflinks) are for the taking while Paul Smith is celebrating 25 years in New York City.

The anniversary collection is available in all US Paul Smith stores as well as online at paulsmith.co.uk

Underground Japanese Fashion Unearthed

They say every cloud has its silver lining and in the case of Japan, said lining seems to have been sewn by the hands of New York City’s fashion elite. In the wake of last year’s devastating earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear meltdown, all around mens fashion guru Nick Wooster and PROJECT President Andrew Pollard went to Tokyo with the goal of unearthing some of the country’s most overlooked fashion treasures. What they found is not only stunning, exhilarating, abjectly handsome and utterly fresh, but effuses hope that in the power of Japanese innovation, there will always be a light coming from “The Land of the Rising Sun”. Check out video and images from their big unveil at PROJECT Las Vegas after the jump.
