Metal-inspired imagery continue to flow into the fashion domain, seen everywhere from Vetements to the Justin Bieber tour merch. Marcelo Burlon County of Milan relies on it for its FW18 which is ripe with nostalgia and Street Fighter flair. Full of novelty references — patches and graphics galore, hello logomania! — the collection was a playful presentation that provided a different perspective to the formalwear that dominated the rest of the season. Bright colors and plenty of face tattoos gave the collection a fantastically vivid tone, like a comic-book come to life.
Marcelo Burlon County of Milan told a traveler’s story during Milan Fashion Week. Building a Spring/Summer 2018 collection out of the odds and ends wanderers adopt over their journeys, the line cemented itself in functionality alongside nationality, bridging divides with dramatic proportions and cultural nods.
You might recall Russell Westbrook was the punchline of one of Drake’s best jokes during last week’s 2014 ESPY awards show, but the three-time NBA all-star (and apparent fashion victim) has just launched a clothing line in collaboration with luxury retailer Barneys New York that might be changing Drizzy’s opinion. Entitled “Westbrook XO-Barneys New York” the collection marks the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard’s inevitable debut in department stores nationwide and features denim, sportswear, leather goods, eyewear, footwear, and luggage all repping Westbrook’s playful style.
Colorful prints and extended silhouettes dominate, as does the long-trending combination of athletic shorts and man-leggings. And while averaging 20+ points per game might provide the confidence for some to sport a few of these styles, the full collection is now available online and at Barneys New York stores nationwide.
