GiltMAN + White Collar Part Two: Caffrey Collection

MB5

If you’re going to star as Neil Caffrey in the hit-series White Collar, described as debonair, charismatic, and suave, looking like a schlub off set is probably a no go.  No bother for Matt Bomer, though, who’s taking his affinity for bespoke menswear to the next level, designing and hand selecting an entire collection for Alton Lane, including tailored accessories, bespoke suiting, and shirting fabrics.  If you’re not familiar with White Collar — first question being: why? — Bomer plays con man Neil Caffrey, and would you believe it, his character knows a thing or two about how to dress.  In fact he’s so styling that Gilt wanted in on the action as well.  And so it was.  Or will be.  This Tuesday, January 22nd, beginning at 12PM the “Caffrey Collection” will go on sale for 36 hours, and feature exclusive ties, bowties and pocket squares ($29-69) and the opportunity to purchase bespoke suit and shirt packages.  The suit packages ($2,000-$2,995) and three shirt package ($425) will be available for seven days.   Separate from the collection, but included in the sale, will be tailored apparel and accessories from like menswear brands including Thomas Pink, Mr. Brown by Duckie Brown, Hickey, and Simon Spurr.  But wait, there’s actually more.  Gilt will debut an exclusive editorial spread featuring Bomer in select Alton Lane products AND offer a complimentary Alton Lane custom pocket square, designed by Bomer himself, to the first 500 Gilt member who visit the sale.  Make that 499, as we’ll like be first in line.  Capping off the marvelousness: 10% of the sale proceeds, as well as from customers who make an additional purchase from any of Alton Lane’s stores in New York, D.C., and Boston, will go to Project A.L.S., a national organization which Bomer is closely involved, funding research for what many know as Lou Gehrig’s disease.  To put this all in perspective: Matt Bomer is styling, and now you can look, err, dress like he does, at a discount (thanks Gilt!), all the while making a charitable donation.  Is it Tuesday yet?

GiltMAN Union Made

GiltMAN + Unionmade: Ready or Not…

GiltMAN Union MadeLook, shopping for yourself when just about all of down and mid-town New York is without power, water and now, gasoline, may not be a good look that soul/spirit thing we’ve heard about, but still, New Yorkers are resilient—as is life. And it goes on. So, maybe do your part before you go buck wild on this genius “gilty union” in men’s fashion (Penfield is currently donating $10 of every web purchase to the Red Cross and you can do so yourself without the impetus of capitalism). Wait, what union? Gilt what? Here it is…Today, for the first time ever, GiltMAN is partnering with california based retailer, UNIONMADE, on a custom curated collection of exclusive clothing and accessories at bargain bin prices.  Think Hamilton 1883 shirts (A Camo Sportshirt was $225 but will be on GiltMAN at $110) to UNIS pants (Orig: $268, Gilt MAN: $139) to Golden Bear outerwear (their varsity jacket is marked down from $198 to just $99). So actually, in some twisted way, if you’ve got it – maybe send the difference to Red Cross…or just wire it to your buddy in downtown NYC.

NEWS: GILT GETS A SEARCH ENGINE

Gilt.com gets new search feature

Shopping on Gilt.com will be a much more user friendly experience from here on in. That’s because they’ve added a search engine feature. Its a seemingly simple addition but for a site like Gilt, whose merchandise changes almost daily, it was kind of a logistical nightmare. That said, the engine will only turn up stuff that’s currently available and allow you to sort by category, brand or price. Go check it out and have an awesome shopping experience!

Schwarzenegger Military Tank Watch and humidor

Arnold Schwarzenegger—Governor, Terminator…and Philanthropist-like Watch Designer?

Schwarzenegger Military Tank Watch

Even if Arnold Schwarzenegger has become wont of surprises (and guilty behavior), we were still struck with it upon learning that the 2 term governor had teamed up with GiltMAN to sell a limited edition set of watches he helped to design. The collab comes under the auspices of celebrating the Governator’s 2 served terms but its also working as a charity to get said politician, out of the proverbial gutter—Schwarzenegger is donating every single dollar made on them to After School All-Stars, a non profit that provides daily comprehensive after-school programs to nearly 81,000 children for free. And holy sh*t, politics aside, the watch is actually kind of handsome. The story…after the jump.

As per GiltMAN:

Well before Schwarzenegger was governing, Terminating, or dropping bad guys off cliffs like a boss inCommando, he was serving his two years of compulsory service in the Austrian military behind the controls of a US-made M47 tank.

He completed his service in 1966, but nearly 30 years later, in 1992, he decided to track down his old vehicle. Not another M47, mind you, but the exact tank he drove from ’65 to ’66. And he found it, buried up to the turret on the Austrian-Hungarian border. After extensive restoration—and, presumably, digging—he was back in the driver’s seat, this time on US soil. And upon looking at the instrument gauges on the control panel, he got the idea in his head to use those gauges as a model for a watch with all the heft and attitude of his new toy. In 2010, that vision became reality in the form of a timepiece that boasts nearly 11 ounces of steel, a burly leather strap, and a precise Japanese movement. The name of this impressive timekeeper? The A.S. M47-331. “M47” for the model, and “331” for the serial number, of Arnold’s actual tank.

Schwarzenegger Military Tank Watch

That’s right. Old Schwarzenegger designed a watch…with the help of a “private label” (That’s what GiltMAN told us of who helped the governor make such a thing). There are three styles in total. The tan and black version, with the Austrian Army symbol on the face and a blacked out iteration one with a simple “USA” stamp—are limited to only 500 pieces worldwide and cost you a $1000 donating to the After School All-Stars Program. The third version for $2695 and limited to only 100 pieces in the world, is signed by Arnold himself and comes with $1,000 worth of Daniel Marshall humidor, 10 A.S. Signature Dominican cigars, and a signed photo of Schwarzenegger with the tank that inspired it all. A link to it all is provided to you here!
