1017 ALYX 9SM has partnered with Japanese brand Blackmeans on a limited-edition fall capsule. Blackmeans is well known for its biker-inspired leather clothing often infused with hints of tribal influences and cloth cutting techniques in their designs.
1017 ALYX 9SM has reworked the classic leather jacket and jeans into a unique and edgy collaborative capsule. The collaboration’s centerpiece is a fitted leather jacket with an asymmetrical fit and kimono styled collar that is contrasted with hard silver details. The capsule also includes pairs of jeans that have been shredded beyond belief and enforced with a frayed cross-stitching technique.
CONCEPT 006: 1017 ALYX 9SM, the latest iteration as part of an ongoing store initiative at Nordstrom’s Men’s Store in New York City launched an exclusive collection made in collaboration with the streetwear designer. Previous editions of the CONCEPT series have involved the release of archived Raf Simons pieces and exclusive Dior launches.
“Alyx is rooted in functionality and how it can be incorporated into peoples’ lives,” Sam Lobban, vice president of Nordstrom Men’s, said in a statement. “A lot of times fashion is for fashion’s sake, promoting purely the aesthetic. Matthew balances the aesthetic with making forward-thinking menswear that guys will really want to wear.”
The 40-piece collection is split between four categories: leather, signature, technical, and formal. Anchored by a dark monochromatic color palette, the pieces are able to be integrated into your closet seamlessly and add an extra dimension of street edge to your look.
CONCEPT 006: 1017 ALYX 9SM is available in the New York store and online now.
The t-shirt is the essential summer style staple — you can dress it up, down, ways you can’t even imagine. Whether you’ve got a hot date or you’re just spending a hot day at the beach, a simple t-shirt will always suffice. Fortunately, luxury e-tailer Mr. Porter seems to be on board with this style concept and is releasing an exclusive t-shirt capsule collection with some of the most prolific brands of today. Launching on Monday, the site will unveil a range of new t-shirts created by labels from around the world including Carhartt WIP, Aries, Billionaire Boys Club, Undercover, Kapital, Alyx, and many more. Each shirt was designed to capture each of the brand’s essences while incorporating Mr. Porter’s refined yet congenial taste. That’s to say, these exclusive pieces are sure to be highly coveted upon release so be ready to cop them while you can.
The Mr. Porter t-shirt collection will launch online on Monday, June 3. Check out some other summer shirt options beforehand.
Streetwear label Alyx — founded by designer Matthew Williams, whose resume boasts work with Alexander McQueen and Kanye West — has constructed a pop-up shop in Toronto. The new temporary space spans 1,695 square feet and carries the brand’s latest line, as well as exclusive products and will stock items from collaborations with Nike and Dior (Williams worked with Kim Jones on a line of saddlebags). The intimate space echos the brand’s signature industrial style, with bare walls and metallic accents decorating the interior.
1017 ALYX 9SM will be open at 26 Bellair Street until June. Check out some pictures of the shop below.

Tom Ford’s Leather Suit
The American designer always delivers impeccable tailoring, but this leather suit is a standout. Paired with a simple black turtleneck and large aviator glasses, it was a fresh and sleek take on the polished menswear that Ford does so well. Similar suits were also shown by Alyx and Berluti, proving that 2019 is going to be a big year for men’s leather.

Loewe’s Looong Sleeves
Showing for the first time in Paris, Loewe (the Spanish label headed by J.W. Anderson) presented a series of knits with dramatically exaggerated sleeves. While oversized tops have become a staple for a few seasons now, it was nice to see a silhouette that focused on length rather that puffiness.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s Femme Top
The French designer has amassed a devout Instagram following in the past year thanks to his flashy and delicate take on menswear (as well as his sensual campaigns starring IG’s finest). This slinky and shimmering halter was a season highlight that would fulfill any music video fantasy.

Palomo Spain’s Glam Rock Moment
Moving away from athleisure and streetwear, this season was a welcome return to the suit. Palomo Spain, the young Spanish fashion collective, known for its theatrical pieces showed this rhinestone suit that is just waiting to make its on-stage debut. Looking at you, Harry Styles.

Thom Browne’s Cinched Waist
What’s great about Thom Browne is that he can do both super utilitarian and uniform tailoring and absurd large-scale runway shows. This elongated printed suit dress with fur cuffs and a cinched waist was a glimpse at the intersection of both these strengths.

Louis Vuitton’s Utility Vest
It seems only fitting that Louis Vuitton, which helped spearhead the great fanny pack trend with its viral Supreme collab back in 2017, lets us know that it’s moved on to utility vests as the next it-accessory. Right there with you, LV.

Valentino’s Printed Overcoat
Retro menswear cues dominated this season, but this brown printed overcoat from Valentino showed us that simple things can elevate the staple pieces to a surreal place.

Ann Demeulemeester’s Puffy Shirt
The Belgian designer presented an elegant range of oversized men’s blouses that would be fit on both a pirate and a romance novel cover. Billowy and rebellious, the shirts were a welcome contrast to the structured silhouettes that were frequently shown.

Études’ Keith Haring Tribute
Haring’s work remains an endless source of retro-inspiration for fashion and the design world at large, but this simple yet bold jumpsuit from the French design collective was a straightforward yet refreshing way to incorporate the artist’s iconic illustrations.

Versace’s Feather-Lined Suit
Leave it to Versace to add some campiness to the suit-overload that was made apparent this season, offering a reminder that menswear can and should be fun.
