Ryan Plett Captures Haunting Images of Iowa Flooding

Earlier this spring, residents all over the Midwest — particularly Muscatine and Scott counties and the city of Davenport in Iowa — were victims to some of the most severe rainfall and flooding in history. The Red Cross began responding to flooding reports in March and a flood warning was announced for the region “until further notice,” according to local weather reports, with further rainfall along the Mississippi River projected to continue throughout the summer. In addition to impacting crops (corn and soy are predominantly grown in the Midwest), water safety is being threatened. Photographer Ryan Plett captured some devastating images of the damage in Iowa, which can be seen below. Click here to learn more about his work and here to find out how you can help.
