Reebok Launches Its First Plant-Based Sneaker
Jumping on the eco-bandwagon, Reebok has designed its first plant-based sneaker, the Forever Floatride GROW. Since footwear is one of the hardest things to produce sustainably (made difficult as the sole is usually made from artificial materials for maximum durability), Reebok has succeeded in making an ecologically-conscious performance shoe that can easily compete with other models in that category.
Based on the design for the award-winning Forever Floatride Energy shoe, the GROW takes a sustainable spin. The shoe is highly cushioned, with a responsive midsole built from castor beans. Other materials within the shoe include eucalyptus tree upper, BLOOM algae foam, and natural rubber. The sneaker joins the ranks of Reebok’s successful Cotton + Corn lifestyle collection, while the brand’s further pillars will focus on [REE]GROW and [Ree]CYCLE – ing materials to eliminate polyester entirely by 2025.
