Public School Fall 2013: Polished Deconstruction

Public School Fall 2013 Menswear Fashion Week Presentation

“We really wanted to explore technique with this collection,” says Public School co-founder Dao-Yi Chow. “The past two seasons set the tone for our silhouette and aesthetic, so we wanted to focus on developing new washes, embellishments and details that would help to define the Public School look. We looked at how the little traits of someone’s personality helped to define who they are and similarly tried to capture that with our garments.” So to add to their structured, downtown street edge, they worked new fabrics like wool blended knits and stretch skins into deconstructed yet polished pieces. Whereas a lot of their contemporaries were playing around with color blocking, Public School  stayed focused like a lazer beam on doing so with fabric, creating layered and texturized that read minimal and sleek.
