New York’s Newest Restaurant Cathédrale Opens in East Village
Ever planned a dinner for you and your 300 closest friends? MOXY East Village hotel’s restaurant Cathédrale features a show-stopping environment plenty with the main dining room, bar, outdoor terrace, and a private dining room. In a tumultuous air, following protests to halt construction in 2016, the hotel is set to open this week and the French-Mediterranean restaurant is ready to summon all of New York’s crowds to the East Village
With chef Jason Hall at the helm in collaboration with Ralph Scamardella, the menu brings elemental, ingredient-driven cooking to light. While respecting French cooking tradition, the restaurant also remains contemporary in its final execution. The restaurant decor is itself this way too: nostalgic and contemporary. The first impression is a Middle-Ages abbey-vibe while the details reveal modern hospitality. A 10-foot wire mesh sculpture by Edoardo Tredsoldi is a striking centerpiece for the dining room. The open kitchen also adds a level of transparency not usual for traditional French cuisine.
Cathédrale is located at 112 11th Street and will open this month for dinner, with weekday breakfast to follow.
